How to handle the unexpected

If you woke up to unexpected news, or something not working like you expected today (Phones not working, social media being down, etc. ) and it threw off your day, this will help...

1. Take a deep, slow breath of life in from the Giver of life. Let your exhales today be intentionally longer and slower than your inhales. This will provide support to your nervous system.

2. Consider what fears, or frustrations are coming up and share them with God and with a trusted friend sometime in the next 12-24 hours.

3. Give yourself permission to explore a smile, you might get a unique opportunity to stretch your creative muscles in the next 24 hours.

4. Give thanks that our ability to communicate with the Lord will never be hindered by cell towers, social media outages, or other forces of evil.

5. Find someone to help or encourage in the next 12-24 hours. Serving others decreases a sense of helplessness. And remember this beautiful statement from our Creator and our Lord, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27 When others are leaning out, you can still lean in to your faith in Jesus!
