Audible Advent

I finally figured out how to participate in advent without overwhelming myself and getting lost in the shuffle of holiday activities! For years, I would get to December and want to do something special for advent, but then before I could implement anything the tyranny of the urgent would take over, the month would be gone and I would have missed another opportunity for quiet reflection. Can you relate? If so, I have a great idea for us! Here is what I came up with, feel free to join me, and/or invite a friend to be your Audible Advent accountability buddy!

Morning: Listen to Advent with Jesus by J.R. Heimbigner on Audible. The daily "chapters" are literally 3--40 seconds! The Sunday chapters once a week are only 2 1/2 minutes. (And it's a free book on Audible, so you don't even have to use one of your "credits" to get it.) Evening option: Listen to Handel's Messiah - the advent calendar by Katrine Nyland Sørensen on Audible. (This is a 24 episode podcast. The episodes are only around 5-8 minutes in length. It gives you a bit of history around the composer and Handel's Messiah. The narrator has a great accent and this is doubling as my sleep story.) For the in between moments of the day try out this Advent Spotify playlist or Handel's Messiah on Spotify: Another easy option:

Here is the free Advent Guide by Holy Yoga, this one has 8-10 min auditory scripture meditations for each week of advent inside the guide. This could be used along with Audible's Handle's Messiah, or as an alternative evening meditation.

You can get Audible for .99 a month for three months when you sign up by the end of the year.

May this advent season bring you an "audible" sigh of rest as you find miniature moments of reflection and peace with the Prince of Peace. Sincerely, Your Audible Advent friend, Carrie B. :)
