A prayer to pray on dark days

Even when you are in the shadow

of the clouds

when you face them

you will see

the beautiful effects

of the sun

the rays

the glow

the glory!

This reminds me of the song lyric..

"Don't you give up now

The sun will soon be shining

You gotta face the clouds

To find the silver lining"

- "What Faith Can Do" by Kutless

If today brought you threatening clouds of grief, guilt, shame, sorrow, pain, disappointment, or any other darkness...

"Even the darkness is not dark to (the one true God of Abraham and Isaac, the Messiah, Jesus); the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with (him)" Psalm 139:12

For he is the light of the world!

And if you follow him, you also will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (as in eternal life!) John 8:12

Cry this out with the psalmist...

Please God, let your word be the lamp for my feet when I don't know what to believe and which way to go

Be a light to my path, when I am blinded by my selfishness, my narratives, my pain

Help me hold tightly to the oath I have taken and confirmed, that I will follow your righteous laws

I have suffered much;

preserve my life, Lord, according to your word.

Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth,

and teach me your laws

Those who are hostile to you have set a trap for me,

help me not to wander away from your commandments

Your words of life and truth, are my spiritual heritage and my souls inheritance,

Help them always be the joy of my heart

Help everything in me: my thoughts, desires, will, to stretch itself out always and forever to accomplish all that you have prescribed for me to do, to the very end of time!

Prayer modified from Psalm 119:105-112
